1st Mountain Bike at Laguna del Mar attracts area cyclists!

Puerto Peñasco is no stranger to adrenaline. Last weekend, dozens of cyclists relished in that adrenaline at the 1st Mountain Bike Race held May 8th at Laguna del Mar.
Participants traversed twenty-eight kilometers of dunes and trails through the desert mountainous landscape near the sea in this first mountain biking race organized by the local cycling group “Club Esperanza.”
Nearly 40 participants of diverse cycling clubs from Puerto Peñasco and Caborca took part in the race, including those from Pelicanos, Roca Jc, Cabrales, Sonido Boom, Jabalines and Usana, as well as the hosts and organizers from Club Esperanza. The day was filled with sights of the best mountain bikes in the world!
Winners in the various categories included in the Men’s category: 1st place Luis Fernando Soto, Usana team from Caborca; 2nd place: Jesus Valenzuela, Club Esperanza of Puerto Peñasco, and 3rd place: José Ángel Soto, Club Jabalines from Caborca.  Winners in the Women’s category:  1st place Mari Mendivil, Sonido Boom from Sonoyta, 2nd place Patricia González, independent cyclist, and 3rd place Cecilia Acedo of Club Esperanza in Puerto Peñasco.
